Dye piece
Edgewood Sculpture, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA., December 2022.
Dye Piece marks the beginning of my journey into performance work. In process, it served as a love letter to personal archival, as well as an exploration of what natural elements can be poured into and cleanse the body. At the time of this work, I was continuously exploring my connection to traditional spiritual practices, specifically cleansing rites. This led to the realization of the human body as a sacred object. Through leaving tangle prints of my body I have been able to highlight the importance of spiritual practice and body presence in a viscerally intimate fashion.
Materials: Wood, metal, found object, textiles, and beet dye.
